Vetiver is a root, and it smells like one: dry, green, faintly smoky earth with a clean edge. In a diffuser oil it is the base that makes a citrus composition feel grown-up, and it is the note behind the most recognizable hotel-lobby scent in the collection.

Four ISCENT fragrances use it. Landmark of Luxury opens on grapefruit and orange and settles onto vetiver, cedarwood, patchouli and benzoin; it is the reference vetiver in the range, and the one people recognize as a hotel-lobby scent. Eclat de Bois d'Orange sets vetiver under orange blossom and cedar for a sunroom. Citrus Elixir grounds grapefruit and ginger on vetiver and musk. Avenue No. 1 uses it in an oriental base under vanilla and rockrose.

Vetiver suits the public rooms of a home: entryways, living rooms, a study, anywhere you want presence without sweetness. Cold-air diffusion keeps its green edge clean; heated diffusion tends to push it toward smoke. A 100 ml bottle in the Ensō lasts about three weeks to a month at roughly eight hours a day, and vetiver is slow to lift, so short sessions are enough.
